When will fastpasses return? Thinking about taking a trip in September but don't know if it will be worth it If we are standing in long lines for rides all day. Please advise. Thanks!

Hey there, Jacqueline. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. September is a really nice time of year to visit Walt Disney World, the weather is fantastic and the Taste of Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is still in full swing which is so fun to enjoy.

Jacqueline, it's hard to say whether or not the FastPass+ reservation system will be back up and running for a September trip. It's return has not yet been announced so I really don't know. But what I do know is my personal experience of what it's like to visit the Walt Disney World Theme Parks right now, I've gone at least once a month since the reopening. I've been pleasantly surprised, on most of my trips, that the wait times for attractions really isn't too long. Because of physical distancing the queues do extend out past the attraction pretty far but everything is moving really quickly. Even on Christmas Day, which is the busiest day of the year, my family and I had checked off 9 major attractions, snacks and even a mask break off of our must do list by about 10:30 a.m. at Magic Kingdom Park. I was pretty impressed with that.

If you do plan a trip in September, my number one recommendation is get to the parks as early as possible. I know it may be hard to get everyone up out of bed and going so early but trust me it is worth it, especially without the FastPass+ reservation system.  Transportation to the parks every morning starts running about 45 minutes prior to each park opening. If you can, be ready and waiting about an hour before that way you are one of the first people on that form of transportation. When you get to the theme park in the morning, you'll go through security and temperature screenings and then be on your way to your first attraction. It's been my experience that the parks are opening slightly earlier than posted so there is no grouping up of people at the entrance. Have a plan to conquer the more popular attractions first thing and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you are able to accomplish. The busiest part of the day at the Walt Disney World Them Parks right now is around lunch time, in my opinion. You'll notice wait times for attractions creeping up and the lines looking visibly longer. This is the time to take a break and rest from your early morning. Plan a nice sit down lunch or do like I do and head back to your resort for an afternoon swim. September still can be very hot at Walt Disney World so a dip in the pool is going to be very refreshing. Then in the late afternoon or early evening make your way back to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Either going back to ride some of the smaller attractions you missed in the morning or park hop to an entirely different park to experience something new. This is my go-to park plan right now and it really does work out perfectly.

Jacqueline, I really do think you would enjoy a September trip. It may look a little bit different than past trips but the magic is alive and well. If you have any other questions while planning your trip, I'd love for you to come back and ask me. I'm always here to help.

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
