Hi Terri!
I’m so glad you’ve found us here at planDisney! FastPass+ was loved by many, but it did not return after the parks reopened, and it has been permanently retired. But not to worry, Mickey has something new heading our way!
There is quite a lot of excitement in the air as
Disney Genie+ service is coming soon to the Walt Disney World Resort. This new service will offer Guests, for an additional fee, the ability to choose one Lightning Lane attraction at a time, meaning shorter than typical waits for some of your theme park favorites. Additionally, you’ll have the option to purchase individual passes for the newest and most popular attractions in the parks! While a start date for this new service has not been announced, I would anticipate it being offered sometime this fall as the
Walt Disney World Resort celebrates its 50th Anniversary beginning on October 1, 2021!Terri, it looks like your trip is at the end of September, and while I don't know for sure, I don't think Genie+ will be quite ready for Guests at that time. I know I was a little concerned about our trip this past summer, as my family is used to using FastPass+. But we found that the lines moved steadily and we were still able to experience everything we wanted to!
In terms of not having a smartphone when Genie+ is launched, we will have to wait until more details are released. There is still a lot that we don’t know yet. When FastPass+ was available, Guests without smartphones were able to use special kiosks set up in the parks to make their selections. I’m not sure if this will be something offered for Genie+, or if it will only be available to Guests with smartphones. Stay tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog for more details on Genie+, or stop back to see us here on
planDisney after it launches and I’m sure we’ll have more information at that time.
It looks like your trip is just around the corner, Terri. So break out that suitcase and getting packing! Have a magical trip!
