what is the fastest route from port orleans to mickeys bbq! Thanks for the answer Bernie!!!!!! This is our 3rd year in a row for a WDW adventure.

    Hi Melissa!

There is no fast and direct method to get from Port Orleans to Fort Wilderness to where Mickey's Backyard BBQ is held.  You will first have to go to a theme park or Downtown Disney and then transfer to a vehicle going to Fort Wilderness.  Then when you get to Fort Wilderness, you will have to transfer to an internal bus to get to where Mickey's Backyard BBQ is held.  I would plan on the whole process taking at least 90 minutes.

However, there is a fun way to get there, though not necessarily any faster.  I suggest going from Port Orleans to the Magic Kingdom.  Then when you get off the bus at the Magic Kingdom, head down to the boat launches and catch the boat that runs directly between the Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness.  The bus stop and boat launches are outside the Magic Kingdom so you don't need to use a park ticket or anything.  Boats run about every 20 minutes.  It's a fun and relaxing boat ride to Fort Wilderness unless it is a cold evening; it takes a little over 25 minutes.  Once you get to the Fort Wilderness boat launch, you just need to walk about 100 yards to where Mickey's Backyard BBQ is held.

The best way to do all of this, in my opinion, is to plan on visiting the Magic Kingdom the day you want to go to Fort Wilderness.  Then you can just leave from the Magic Kingdom and not worry about returning to Port Orleans first.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
