Hi Jennifer,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts are so beautiful and richly themed; you are going to love staying there!
My family recently stayed in the Royal Rooms at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and we really enjoyed walking over to French Quarter to use the food court and pool, which features a magical dragon slide and super-fun splash pad. The length of walk really depends on where your room is. From the main building at Riverside to the main building at French Quarter, the walk takes about 10-15 minutes, and I’d guess it’s just a little short of a mile. It’s a really lovely and peaceful walk along the Sassagoula River, with lots of greenery and scenery along the way.
The
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory food court at Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter is one of my favorite resort Quick-Service spots at Walt Disney World. My husband and I really enjoyed the Cajun-inspired menu, and for dessert, you can try their legendary beignets (you even have the option for a drool-worthy beignet sundae). If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, bring along your refillable mug, as the French Quarter food court has one of those awesome Coke Freestyle machines, with so many delicious beverage options and combinations.
Have a wonderful time exploring the resorts, Jennifer! There are so many recreation options and amenities at both resorts, and be sure to use the ferry to travel to Disney Springs. You can even use the ferry to travel between Riverside and French Quarter - stop by the ferry launch for current hours and information.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
