Hiya Jason, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with your question about
Disney's Art of Animation Resort!
Like Ariel, I usually spend all my time at sea - being a
Disney Cruise Line Specialist and all - but the last time my wife and I went to
Walt Disney World Resort was just before we found out we were having our son, and where did we stay? That's right,
Disney's Art of Animation Resort in the Little Mermaid Standard Rooms! It made for a great "home base" for us as we got up entirely too early to try and get a boarding group for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and its convenient location near the
Disney Skyliner station made getting to EPCOT and Disney's Riviera Resort super fun and easy!
I do remember the walk, which probably means it's noticeably long, so I checked with a Cast Member, who said the Little Mermaid rooms farthest away from the lobby are just over a half a mile away. In our experience that works out to be about a seven-to-ten-minute walk past the
Big Blue Pool, as well as the Family Suites inspired by The Lion King - but with so much to look at on our way, we hardly noticed. That said, the adrenaline rush of checking into your
Disney Resort Collection hotel can only take you so far, and I wanted to confirm if there was any wheelchair availability for you!
Unfortunately, the Cast Member confirmed that there are not currently any wheelchairs or assistance transportation options available, but there's no need to strike a deal with Ursula the Sea Witch to help you comfortably get to your room!
My fellow panelist Cindy reminded me that there's the option to rent a wheelchair or electric scooter from ScooterBug rentals -
and as a Disney Featured Provider, Bell Services at Disney's Art of Animation Resort can take delivery of your rental before you arrive so once you check in, it should be ready for you! Not only that, you'll be able to rent it for the duration of your stay, meaning you'll have it available to you from Art of Animation Resort and Disney Skyliner, to the parks and everywhere in between!
Thank you again for your question, Jason! If you come up with any additional questions as you're planning and "strollin' along down that...what's the word...street," please drop us another line here at planDisney!
We'll be happy to make the answer part of your world!
