How far out can cruise planning start?

    Ahoy Francie!

Sounds like you are DREAMing about setting sail with Captain Mickey and crew...what a WONDERful idea! I cannot wait for this FANTASY to become a reality. There’s so much MAGIC that’s included on a Disney cruise, but there are also extras that you certainly want to take advantage of by booking them in advance.

If you are asking how far out you can make a reservation, well, your cruise planning starts TODAY and currently can be made as far out as May 2022 based on the available itineraries. If you’d like a sail date beyond that, expect the rest of the 2022 itineraries to be announced in the next few months. This includes the highly anticipated Disney Wish, slated to begin voyages in Summer 2022. Typically, the further out you book your sailing, the better the pricing will be.

I think what you really want to know is when you can book things like onboard activities, specialty restaurants, and Port Adventures. Once you have selected an itinerary and made a cruise reservation, that’s when the real fun begins. This will depend on your Castaway Club level. Reservations for these cruise enhancements can be made when you’ve made your final payment and your advance booking window opens. That is 120 days for Platinum Castaway Club, 105 days for Gold Castaway Club, 90 days for Silver Castaway Club, and 75 days prior to your sail date for first-time Disney cruisers. Reservations might also be secured on the first day you set sail, depending on availability.

I already have the date my advance booking window opens marked on my calendar. Like Cinderella, I will be ready to roll when the clock strikes midnight because that’s when availability opens. I highly recommend having a wish list ready for the reservations you want most and start with those bookings first. I usually start with my Port Adventures first and my Palo brunch and dinner requests immediately after (since those are usually the highest priority for me).

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo back to planDisney if we can help you navigate the cruise planning waters. Once you’ve set sail on your Disney cruise, I hope you will be able to say that the glass slipper fit and the dream that you wished came true!
