As far as the alcohol policy goes for DCL…. I see you can be bring 2- 750ml bottles of wine on board in your carry on bag. My question is… in fear of the bottles breaking during my flight… could you bring the boxed wine instead?

    Ahoy, Michelle!

Welcome back to planDisney!  I'm so glad you stopped by to see us again as you prepare for your magical vacation at sea!

Michelle, you are correct that the Disney Cruise Line alcohol policy currently allows Guests (21 years and over) to bring a maximum of 2 sealed, unopened bottles of wine or champagne (no larger than 750 mL) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) onboard during embarkation.  I chatted with a very friendly Disney Cruise Line Cast Member who shared that there may be some discretion at the port since boxed wine is not specifically mentioned in the policy, but you run the risk of your alcohol being confiscated if it is not allowed through security.  For that reason, I would recommend sticking to bottles of wine as outlined in the current alcohol policy to ensure smooth sailing through the boarding process.  If you choose to bring bottles of wine with you, please make sure they are in your carry-on bags when boarding the ship.  I always like to confirm the current list of prohibited and restricted items just before my departure, in case there are any recent updates or changes since my last sailing.

Another option you may want to consider is purchasing a wine package through Onboard Gifts.  My husband and I always purchase the package that corresponds to the number of nights we're sailing, allowing us to enjoy a bottle of wine with our dinner each evening.  The wine package offers a discount over purchasing the bottles individually, and you can redeem it in the rotational dining restaurant you're assigned to each evening.  If you don't finish a bottle at dinner, you are welcome to take the wine back to your stateroom to enjoy that evening, or your serving team will save it to serve at dinner the next night.   Plus, you can use a Disney Gift Card to purchase your wine package and/or other onboard gifts.  I like to stack my savings by purchasing Disney Gift Cards at a discount from local retailers.  If needed, you can combine the value from multiple gift cards on the Disney Gift Card website, allowing you to complete your purchase with just one gift card.

Michelle, I hope this information has been helpful, and you enjoy a fabulous cruise!  If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney!

    Cheers,
    Kristi
