How far in advance can I schedule genie + rides

    Hi there, Kourtney!

You ain't never had a friend like planDisney, so thanks for stopping by with your question! Disney Genie+ service is a tool for Guests hoping to maximize magic on their vacation while minimizing wait times. Its scheduling process for bypassing standby queues is a bit different than its predecessor, Fastpass+, so I'm happy to show you the (Walt Disney) World of Disney Genie+.

Disney Genie+ service can be purchased through the My Disney Experience mobile app beginning at midnight each day you have a valid theme park ticket linked to your account. Although the service can be purchased at midnight, Guests are unable to make their first Lightning Lane reservation for themselves and additional members of their party linked through their Family & Friends List until 7 AM. Personally, I typically purchase Genie+ and verify my party around 6:45 AM to ensure I'm able to secure an early return time for my first Lightning Lane selection of the day. Happily, there is no limit to the amount of Lightning Lane selections Guests can reserve in a single day, but you will not be eligible to make a new selection until you have either redeemed your most recent Lightning Lane or two hours have passed since you made that selection. The magic of Walt Disney World will even provide a convenient little reminder at the top of your Tip Board in the My Disney Experience mobile app indicating the time you will be eligible for your next Lightning Lane so that you don't have to stress about keeping up with it yourself.

You'll also have the option of bypassing the queue on some of Walt Disney World's most popular attractions by purchasing individual Lightning Lane entries. These à la carte purchases (limited to two per day) are made independently of Disney Genie+ service and each other. Keep in mind that while all Guests can make Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections at 7 AM, only those of Disney Resort hotels (and select others) are eligible to purchase individual Lightning Lanes at that time. If you're not staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you'll need to wait until the park opens for the day to make your purchase. As a friendly reminder, when selecting an attraction for your next Genie+ Lightning Lane you will automatically be assigned the next available timeslot, but individual Lightning Lanes will allow you to choose the best time for your schedule from the available options.

As a personal tip, if you're hoping to secure a Lightning Lane entry for my favorite attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Slinky Dog Dash, you'll want to make that selection first as it often lacks availability later in the day.

I hope you found this helpful, Kourtney, and that bypassing standby queues allows you to spend more time enjoying your favorite Mickey-shaped snacks during your magical vacation. If you need any additional assistance, don't hesitate to stop back by. Hakuna Matata, I'm always happy to help!

    Let's make some magic!
