How far in advance do I need to make a lunch and dinner reservation?

Hey there, Chrystal! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I’m happy to help you with some information about dining at Disneyland Resort – there are so many fun dining options to choose from!

Dining reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. The highly demanded venues do book up quickly, so I typically tell Guests to check at 6:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time exactly 60 days ahead. However, that’s not to say you can’t secure reservations closer to your arrival. In fact, because most restaurants have a 24-hour cancellation window to avoid a charge, many reservations open up in that 24-hour period.

Here are other options in case you can’t secure reservations in advance:

    1. You can check with the host stand at any table service restaurant to join the walk-up list (most have this option.)

    2. Some restaurants have a Mobile Dine Walk-up Availability option where you can add yourself to waitlist when you’re near the restaurant, through the Disneyland mobile app. Check out the list of restaurants here.

    3. Most quick service restaurants offer mobile ordering, which is a great way to secure a meal or snack without waiting in line. In the Disneyland mobile app, go to Mobile Food Orders to get started.

Can I share a personal favorite? GCH Craftsman Bar at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel is at the top of my list for many reasons! You don’t need to be a hotel guest to dine there; you can enter the hotel from Disney California Adventure Park. You can try to make a reservation in the Disneyland mobile app or go directly to the restaurant to join the walk-up list, which is typically not more than 30 minutes in my experience. It’s situated outdoors by the pool and there’s a great variety of entrees and snacks on the menu, along with an extensive cocktail/mocktail selection. Some evenings they have live music. It's a relaxing venue for lunch or dinner. The double-baked nachos and Prickly Pear Rose are two of my favorites!

As far as mobile orders go, we love Pym Test Kitchen inside Avengers Campus. They have a good selection of meals and snacks and a nice seating area outside. The Quantum Pretzel is a favorite – large and sized-to-share, even more delicious with the Sharp Cheddar Cheese-Beer Sauce!

Eating your way through Disneyland Resort is a great way to experience the magic. Wishing you a full heart and full tummy, Chrystal – enjoy!
