How far in advance can you book a resort that is not your home resort?

    Hey Howdy Hey, Ira!

You are as welcome as can be here at planDisney! How exciting that you are planning to mosey over to a Disney Vacation Club Resort for a stay next year! One of my favorite parts of being a Disney Vacation Club Member is the variety of Resorts that immerse you in whole new worlds. But, they also come with home-like amenities where you can kick up your boots after a fun-filled Disney day, making memories!  Each Disney Vacation Club Resort is unique in its theming, so each Disney vacation is different than the last.

Ira, eligible Disney Vacation Club Members can make reservations at Disney Vacation Club Resorts that are NOT their Home Resort beginning seven months from their desired check-in date. This includes the beach destinations of Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa.

Of course, you probably know that you can make your Home Resort reservations beginning 11 months from your desired check-in date.  But, in my experience, there is quite a good bit of availability for Disney Vacation Club Resorts, even at seven months out.

Here's a tip for you, Ira. If you don't first see availability at the Resort of your dreams, keep checking. Availability changes daily - sometimes within the same day - as Guests' plans change or they are moved off Waitlists.  We recently secured a one-bedroom Villa within two months of our desired check-in date over the very busy spring break period, simply by checking regularly each day. In fact, the availability changed from morning to afternoon, which is how we secured the Resort.

You can, of course, join a Waitlist if you like, as eligible Members have the option to join two Waitlists per Use Year. Just note that if you are moved off the Waitlist, you will be automatically confirmed, and any concurrent plans will be canceled. So if you decide you no longer want or need to be on a Waitlist, be sure to remove yourself so you don't get a vacation surprise!

I hope this helps you, Ira! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, stop back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you. After all, you've got a friend in me!

    Happy Trails,
    Keri
