is fantasmic too scary for a 5 year old girl?

    Hi Jackie -

I can't really give you a definitive answer on that question, but I can tell you that Fantasmic! can be very scary for small children.  It all depends on how frightened your child gets by Disney movies.  The villains do make appearances in this show.  Maleficent turns into a fire breathing dragon and sets the entire lake on fire.

However, as in any Disney story, good conquers evil.  There are some absolutely beautiful & magical moments in the show.  Disney princesses ride in lighted costumes with their princes on floating barges.  And the ending leaves you elated and energized -- Disney magic at its best!

You know your child best and what she can handle.  Some 5 year old children have difficulty separating make believe from reality, and this show may be too intense for them.  Having said that, I have taken several young children to the show, and I always warn them that there may be some scary moments, but they are only pretend and I promise them that Mickey will win in the end.

    Hope this helps!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
