Our family's first visit is this October. We are in ASMu and I'm worried the buses will be terrible. How long should I allow to get from our resort to parks, esp. to meet a dining reservation? Is it more/less hassle to drive over to the parks?

    Hi, Brenda!

This is Disney! Hakuna Matata - No Worries!  I have stayed at All-Star Music and really never had a problem with the buses. There will be times you will share a bus with Sports and Movies, but other times you will have your own bus, it will just depend on the crowds.

The actual bus ride to any of the parks from your resort will be less than 30 minutes.  However, you will need to factor in wait time for the bus (the longest you should ever have to wait for a bus is 20 minutes) as well as time to go through bag check, and the actual walk to the restaurant.  (The walk to World Showcase from the front gates of Epcot can take 20 minutes, however if you are dining at Tony's in Magic Kingdom, the restaurant is just inside the front gates taking no time at all!)  To make sure you are not rushed, allow between an hour and and hour and 15 minutes transportation time when heading to a park for a reservation (more time for Epcot, less for Magic Kingdom.)

If you prefer and you have a car, you can certainly drive.  My family usually gets a car, and for the days we are going to Magic Kingdom, we take the bus as the car parking lot it so far from the park.  For Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, we usually just hop in our car.

Really, either option takes about the same amount of time.  I think you will find the buses to be quite efficient, and it is kind of nice to leave the driving to someone else!  After a day or 2, you are going to get a feel for the bus situation and you can decide how you want to get to the parks for your magical vacation!  Have a great time.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
