It will be our family's first visit to Disney World. I just dont know where to begin. Me and my husband have two boy 4yrs old and 6yrs old. Also wanted to stay during value season in feb. My son loves animals and the other is deaf any suggestions?

I'm assuming you're planning for a trip in February of 2009. That's great! About a year out is the perfect time to start working on your Disney vacation. The first thing I would do to start planning would be to go to your local library or bookstore and get several books on Disney to give you an overview. I always recommend the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for its honest opinions on all things Disney. I also usually recommend the Birnbaum Official Guide to Disney World for the photos and an overview of the Disney party line. For you, I would also recommend PassPorter's Open Mouse guidebook (formerly called PassPorter's Walt Disney World for Your Special Needs). I have a good friend who is deaf who used this book to help plan her trip.

I would also take the time now to subscribe to a few online Disney newsletters, particularly the AllEars newsletter that you can find at You will get wonderful weekly updates on events in the parks and lots of great tips from other travelers about budgeting and planning. You should also go to the site and click the search button. Search on "deaf" and you'll find pages of wonderful tips for experiencing Disney with the hearing-impaired.

As far as animal lover goes, you should obviously make sure you spend some quality time at the Animal Kingdom. The safari ride alone is worth the trip. You could also plan a meal at one of the restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'm specifically thinking of the buffet at Boma, which has lots of great food options for kids and adults. After dinner you could walk around the Lodge and check out the great animal viewing areas there.
