Hi Moms. This will be my family's first visit to Disney Aug. 25, 2015 & I would like to know how to plan a typical day (park/dine) for a 5 year old. Thanks

    Hey Tammy-

We first visited Walt Disney World Resort as a family when my son was 5-years old. We wanted to keep him hydrated, fed and entertained without wearing him and us out. Our plan, Mission Magic, worked like this:

    Before you go
•Review these great tips for traveling with little ones.
•Make sure you have made your FastPass+ reservations for the morning.
•Make your dining reservations up to 180 days in advance to secure the best times for your family.
•Have a comfortable stroller for movement, shaded seat, and a place for naps. Also bring snacks, sunscreen, a small toy and water.

    Theme Park Day
•Wake up early and eat breakfast at your resort.
•Arrive 30-45 minutes before the scheduled theme park opening time.
•Once you are in, follow your FastPass+ reservation plan. You will have time in between FastPass+ reservations to visit with Disney Characters or ride other attractions. We found the magic hidden in the between times especially when our 5-year old met Winnie the Pooh.
•Have a snack ready by 10:00 a.m. and lunch around 11:30 a.m. Little ones get hungry and cranky quickly in August heat.
•Finish visiting attractions around 1:30 p.m. and return to the resort for nap/relaxation/pool time.
•Return to the Theme Park around 5:00 p.m. for dinner (5:30-6:00 p.m.) and more attractions. Enjoy the evening parades and fireworks depending on the Walt Disney World Theme Park.

I hope this helps make your first time in “The Most Magical Place on Earth” fantastic.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
