    Hi, this is my family's first trip to WDW. We have 2 boys 2 and 4 and have been told that we must do pin trading. And I was told that we could trade 'unique' or 'unusual' pins that were not Disney pins? Is that true? Thanks, Amy K - Arkansas

    Pin trading is a great activity for kids Amy, and the lanyard full of pins makes a fabulous souvenir as well.  To find the answer to your question, I googled "official disney pin trading."  Once I got to the page, I clicked on the "Get Started" header in the white banner at the top of the page.  Doing that takes you to a really handy FAQ with pretty much all the pin trading information you can think of, including a Disney Pin Trading Etiquette .pdf download.

    Here is what I found with regard to your question: "The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that it must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Character, Location, or Icon."  So, based on that information, I would say that "unique or unusual" pins won't necessarily qualify for trading with Cast Members.  Not to worry though; you will find a huge selection of pins to choose from once you arrive.  Have fun!
