My family&I are thinking about going to DW the week after Thanksgiving of 2013. I've never been to FL that time of year, i'm hearing mixed feelings on the WEATHER at that time. Sunny? Warm? Rainy? Cold? Can we still swim? Looking for some true insight

Hi Shawna!  My family traveled to Walt Disney World during that time for many, many years.  I loved the weather although it is a time when it can change and it doesn't necessarily follow the year to year predictions of the weatherman!

The best bet for you when thinking about packing is to definitely pack layers. In the mornings and when the sun goes down the temperatures can be quite cool. If you are caught in the parks without a jacket you will find that you will have to buy Mickey sweatshirts for the entire family to keep warm. It isn't fun to drag around a bag of light jackets but it is less fun to be cold.  During the day when the sun is out it is one of the most beautiful times of year. Love the heat of the sun but hate to sweat so it is why I vacation during this time. November and December are actually the two months with the least amount of average rainfall during the year. Of course that doesn't mean you can't and won't see a shower but it is not usual as it is in the summer months. Average temperatures for this time range from 55 degrees to 76 degrees with average 2.3 inches of rainfall.

Swimming is fine but understand that although all pool water is heated to 82 degrees it can feel much colder when the air temperature is cool.  You will always find guests in the pools even on the coldest day so it is more about what you can handle. Obviously the summer months will pack the pools to capacity for relief from the heat and the winter months are more crowded only during the middle part of the day.

You hear mixed feelings about the weather because it is just that....MIXED! Florida can have extreme temperature changes and be cold one day and then record warm temps the next during the winter.  I love it though as I have energy and am not zapped by the heat. I am one of those guests who won't venture close to Walt Disney World during the summer months.
