Hiya, Arturo!
Oh boy! You and your family are going to have an amazing time at the Disneyland Resort. I too have a family of six, including special needs children. For us, the Disneyland Resort truly is The Happiest Place on Earth!
If it’s Mickey Mouse you want, it’s Mickey Mouse you are going to get! The Disneyland Resort is "
Walt Disney's Original Magic Kingdom" and, therefore, Mickey Mouse’s original home. In fact, you can actually visit Mickey's House and Meet Mickey! Our children love exploring Mickey’s house. You can wander through the parlor, watch a classic cartoon in the living room, spy a sneaky gopher in the garden, and admire props and costumes in Mickey’s Movie Barn. The path through Mickey’s house is set up like a long, meandering queue. But if you and your
little Mouseketeer would like to spend some extra time admiring a particular room, that is fine. Simply let other Guests know it is OK to pass you and you are welcome to enjoy experiencing Mickey’s house as much as you would like.
Mickey is the star of the show in both of my favorite
shows at the Disneyland Resort. In these shows, Mickey teaches us that as long as there is imagination left in the world, you can do anything. In the daytime, you can catch Mickey and the Magical Map. Mickey takes us on a “Journey to Imagination” as he learns valuable lessons from the great Yensid. In the evening spectacular Fantasmic! things look dire as some well-known Disney Villains try to get the best of Mickey’s imagination. But Mickey won’t let them get away with it. The finale of Fantasmic! is one of my favorite things to witness at the Disneyland Resort. You may even spot Mickey in the role of Steamboat Willie in this amazing show.
The brand new “Magic Happens” parade debuted earlier this year. It is already one of my favorite daytime parades at the Disneyland Resort. And no wonder, with Mickey Mouse himself leading the way in this energetic and magical show. You will want to arrive early to save a spot to watch some of your favorite characters dancing and spreading magic down Main Street, U.S.A. and the rest of the parade route in Disneyland Park.
Mickey and his pals aren’t only found in the two theme parks. You can find them at the Disneyland Resort Hotels as well. In particular, Mickey is available to greet Guests at Character Dining experiences in the Disneyland Hotel and at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Whether or not you are staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, you are still welcome to make a reservation for one of these experiences, such as Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet at Storytellers Cafe or Goofy’s Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel.
Tony’s Tip: Guests with disabilities may wish to stop by one of the Guest Relations locations to inquire about any accommodations that may be available and appropriate. The two main Guest Relations locations are at City Hall in Disneyland Park and the Chamber of Commerce in
Disney California Adventure Park. The Cast Members there will be sure to do all they can to help make this an unforgettable experience for you and your son.
I hope you have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort, Arturo. If you have any more questions as you plan your visit, please don’t hesitate to ask here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
See ya real soon!
