Ahoy, Sheryl!
Thanks so much for cruising by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!
You'll be happy to know that the Disney Cruise Line Dining Team is very accommodating when it comes to special requests. Whether you have specific needs regarding dietary preferences, or simply a request to have a private table with your family, they will do everything they can to help.
Smaller parties are sometimes seated with other small parties in the dining room, and couples cruising without kids may be seated together in a group. We are also a family of four, and prefer not to share a table at meals on our Disney Cruise Line vacations. It's not because we don't want to mix and mingle with other cruisers, but simply because our cruise vacations are one of the only times we're all four able to consistently sit down and eat meals together!
I understand you not wanting to cause your son any unneeded anxiety while on your vacation. Mealtime should be a time to relax and spend time with each other, and to enjoy the amazing food you'll be served in
Disney Cruise Line's themed dining venues. If you booked your cruise through an authorized Disney Travel Planner, simply ask them to make notes in your reservation with your requests. You can also call Disney Cruise Line directly at (800) 951-3532 to add your requests to your reservation.
I hope this helps with your planning! Please let us know if you have further questions before your cruise - we're happy to help.
Have a magical day! - Diane W.
