Hi Susan,
Thanks for planning Disney with planDisney. Your party of five is going to have the best time celebrating togetherness and the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort in December.
Disney Genie+ service is a smart investment for your ride-focused park days. When it comes to the logistics of purchasing Disney Genie+ service and booking Lightning Lane attractions in the
My Disney Experience mobile app, there's more than one way to execute a magical day. In helping you decide what will work best for your cast of characters, allow me to tell the story of two families.
Family A has one My Disney Experience account. Mom is the primary account holder and manages profiles for the other family members under her account. She is quite the Disney planner and has successfully
linked her family's tickets, made their
theme park reservations, and linked everyone's MagicBands. On their park days, Mom will be getting up early to purchase Disney Genie+ service by 6:45 a.m. for the entire family via the Tip Board of the
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's home page --> Tip Board). At 7:00 a.m. she'll book the family's first Genie+ Lightning Lane. Her family plans to stick together throughout the day and she'll continue booking Genie+ Lightning Lanes as soon as she's able.
Family B has five different My Disney Experience accounts and has downloaded the My Disney Experience mobile app to everyone's phones. The adults are the only ones that can add a payment method to their accounts so Mom purchases Disney Genie+ service for everyone at 6:45 a.m. At 7:00 a.m., the 16-year-old takes charge of making the first Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation for everyone. As soon as that Lightning Lane has been redeemed, it's someone else's turn to book the next Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction. Two people later decide they want to split off and book a Genie+ Lightning Lane for Space Mountain while the others book Pirates of the Caribbean. Having multiple My Disney Experience mobile apps allows them to view and/or make plans for each other, even when they're not physically together.
Both Family A and Family B are going to have a magical time. My family is a mix of Family A and Family B. In our party of six, my husband and I are the ones that typically take charge of our park days using the My Disney Experience mobile app. Something both families have in common is that they are all connected as
Family and Friends in My Disney Experience.
I'm so glad you brought such an important question to planDisney today, Susan.
I'm all ears if you have any follow-up questions.
Choose magic,
Jennifer
