Hi Sue! I love your question! There are many moderate resorts that would meet your qualifications! I’m happy to make a few recommendations!

Take a look at my favorite moderate resort - Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort - Gran Destino Tower! One of the reasons I love this resort so much is because I feel like I’m getting a deluxe resort at a moderate price point! The Gran Destino Tower is modern, in a great location, has beautiful landscaping, and has a great pool! Your eight-year-old will really love the Mayan temple pyramid pool and water slide! There are also beautiful water bodies around the resort. The shopping amenities are very convenient and there are several good dining locations on the property of this resort! Toledo and Three Bridges Bar and Grill are two of our family favorites! You're just a short (complimentary) bus ride away from Disney Springs! You can’t go wrong with this resort!

Sue, I am also going to give an honorable mention to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter. This is such a pretty resort! It is romantic and picture-perfect! There are pools at French Quarter for your eight-year-old to enjoy, but you can also visit the pools at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside which is just a short walk away.
