Family of 4 and wondering how we tap into genie plus, LL and VQ for our children? Will there ticket link with mine? If I’m wanting to ride with my son while my husband rides something else with our daughter how will that work when I manage both children?

    Hello Beth!

Welcome to planDisney! Traveling with little ones to Walt Disney World Resort has been my life for the last 10 years and I don't plan on stopping. My kids are now huge fans of all things Disney and love making memories there.

When your little ones are under the age of 3, they do not need a ticket to visit Walt Disney World Resort and as a result, do not need to tap into any Parks or Lightning Lanes. If they are tall enough to ride, they can just join the family in all of the fun. If your kids are ages 3 and up then they will need a ticket and you should designate each of them one. If you have not done so already, every person in your party should either have their own My Disney Experience Account (if they are 13 and older) or you should create a managed profile for them. Head to your Family & Friends List and see if everyone has a little icon with their name. If you are not seeing everyone then click on "+ Add a Guest" and for those who don't want or can't make their account select, "Add a new Guest who doesn't have a Disney account." Then create a profile that you will manage. Let the kids pick out their character icons! Right now, my daughter is the Queen, Minnie Mouse. Now, head to your tickets and assign them to the profiles of your family members.

Once you have everyone linked and assigned to their tickets you can download the tickets to your smartphone using the Disney MagicMobile service through the My Disney Experience Mobile App. You can also link a Disney band (or as we call them in the United States, MagicBands) to each of the people in your party. The bands or the digital cards can be used to tap into the Parks and Lightning Lanes.  It is important to note that my husband's account is the one able to download the digital tickets and if I split from him to take one child I will not be able to download them to my wallet. I suggest for convenience as you are all planning to split up that using the bands or getting a physical ticket card is best. Physical ticket cards can be obtained for everyone in your party at the Ticket Booths in front of each of the Parks.  Make sure to label the tickets if you get the same designs. You now have the option of using digital tickets, bands, and physical tickets assigned to each member of the family to enjoy the Parks together or separately. If your kids are young and have a tendency to lose things, I advise you to wear the bands yourself or keep the cards on your person. You can tap in for them! If your kids desperately want to wear their bands then I suggest securing them with rubber bands or hair ties so they don't fall off.

I hope this helps and you all have a magical time!

    Happy Planning!
