My family is going WDW at Thanksgiving. They have the free dining plan if you stay 5 nights, however we received a code for hotel room for $62 a night, we can not get both, would it be worth paying the extra $40 a night or so and get the free dining plan?

    Rachel:

The basic dining plan is worth $39.99 and the quick-service plan is worth $29.99 roughly per adult in your group per day.  To get the free dining, you must purchase at least a one-day ticket to the theme parks with the full rack-rate for the room.

If there are two of you staying in the room, you'd be saving anywhere from $60 for free dining at with a Value Resort stay and $80 a day with a Moderate or Deluxe stay on the dining plan, whereas only $40 a night on the room--the savings is even greater if you have children in the room with you.  It's hard to eat at Disney for $40 a day unless you are strictly eating counter service....

If you were planning on purchasing tickets anyway, I'd go with the free dining offer.  Hands down.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
