Hi Michael!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so sorry that you had a few snafus when trying to plan FastPass+ reservations for
Disney's Hollywood Studios. But I do have a few insights plus a pro tip that might help you out.
Andy is putting the final touches on Toy Story Land right now. One last piece of this puzzle is that he has to switch the entrance of Toy Story Mania! from one side of the building to the other so all of the toys and toy-sized humans can enjoy this attraction in the future. He's been able to do most of this work at nighttime when toys are asleep, but in May he'll need to work on the FastPass+ queue. That's one less attraction for guests to be able to choose during the time of your visit, which is probably making the other attractions a bit more in demand. The good news is the regular line shouldn't be too bad as it won't have to compete with passes.
Another tip about Disney's Hollywood Studios is that you're only allowed to hold one FastPass+ reservation between The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Once you choose one of those you won't be able to select the other until you've enjoyed all three of your selections for the day.
Promised Awesome Pro Tip: Try looking for
FastPass+ reservations in smaller groups around the same time. An attraction may not have availability for eight people at 10:30, but it might have room for four at 10:25 and another four at 10:40. When redeeming a FastPass+ reservation you actually have an entire hour starting at the scheduled time to do so. So have the 10:25 crew wait until 10:40 or 11:00 or 11:15, then everyone can enter the queue together despite having booked two separate times.
I hope this helped, and We'll See You Real Soon, Michael!
