Hi! My family is going to WDW for the first time in May. We go to DL about every two weeks, so how different are the rides that both resorts have? For example, should we stand in line for Toy Story Mania when we have ridden it so many times at DL? Thanks

Hi Tiffany! I am so excited to assist you in the planning of your first magical Walt Disney World (WDW) vacation. As someone who has spent a great deal of time at both Disneyland (DL) and WDW, I understand your concerns and am happy to help!

WDW is a totally different experience.  Everything out in Florida is just...bigger.  That's the first thing you're gonna notice!  While Toy Story is pretty much identical to DL's version, many of the "overlap" attractions are quite different, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World, Jungle Cruise, Tower of Terror, Space Mountain and more.  I would recommend experiencing them all over again at WDW.  It's  actually a lot of fun to point out the similarities and differences.   To me, discovering the differences in the rides and queues is an attraction all its own and you will find that each attraction, WDW or DL has its own individual feel and personality.

I have compiled a list below for your reference!  I would definitely recommend experiencing the "very different" and "different" categories.  If time is of the essence, you could certainly skip out on the "similar" attractions.

    Very Different
Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain

    Different
Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room,Tower of Terror, Tom Sawyer Island, Haunted Mansion, Fantasmic

    Similar or the same
It's a Small World, Dumbo, Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White, Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story Mania, Autopia, Star Tours, Soarin'

I am all out of room, but if you need more tips for your first visit to WDW, please write back! -Amanda F.
