Family is going to WDW to see our daughter march with high school band at the Magic Kingdom. Do they just march down Main Street or follow the parade route?

    Hi Amy!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

My daughter and I were lucky enough to be able to visit Walt Disney World Resort last spring to see her friends march in our high school band at Magic Kingdom Park. It was such a fun experience to be there as supporters and cheerleaders. I can't imagine what a magical experience it must be to actually march through the park to the cheers of Guests along the route!

When a visiting marching band performs at Magic Kingdom, they'll follow the parade route when they march. On the particular day that we were there, the band stepped off next to Harmony Barber Shop at the front of the park, marched around Town Square, down Main Street U.S.A., through Liberty Square and Frontierland, before exiting at the gates beside Splash Mountain. Sometimes marching bands may step off at the Splash Mountain gate and complete the route in the opposite direction. You'll be informed before the performance about which direction the band will march.

We found two amazing spots to view the parade, and were able to get some awesome photos and video. Some of the spectators found a spot on the balcony of the Walt Disney World Railroad Station - Main Street U.S.A., and were able to get video of the band from the moment they began marching, around Town Square, and as they headed down Main Street. It's a bird's eye view, and the videos turned out great! The rest of us positioned ourselves at the center of the hub in front of the castle, in front of the Partners Statue (statue of Walt and Mickey). If you ask a Cast Member ahead of time, they can tell you where the ropes will be put up for the parade. That was a great spot! After they passed by, marching toward the castle, we walked across the hub and were able to get another view from that angle.

I hope you have a fun time on your Disney vacation, and find the perfect spot to see your daughter perform! Have a magical day - Diane W.
