My family and I are wanting to book the World of Color dessert party in October but on the website it looks like all dates are closed. I’m curious as to why all the dates are reading closed and not ‘no more reservations’. Is it going to be down in October?

Hello, Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney! I love that the World of Color Dessert Party is on your radar. I experienced it with my mom and sister a few months ago, and we had a lovely time. There's nothing quite like having a comfortable seat, a box of treats, and a great view of the show!

Jennifer, I have some ideas about why you're seeing limited availability in October for the dessert party.

    • There are fewer performances of World of Color Happiness! (and therefore, associated dining events) in September and October. The park will be closing early on select nights for a separately ticketed after-hours event called the Oogie Boogie Bash. That's why you are seeing a slash through some dates - it indicates that the dessert party isn't offered. Because there are fewer opportunities available, reservations will likely be claimed quickly, which is what you are likely seeing for dates that have a circle and a slash.
    • Dining reservations are not typically released before the 60-day mark, so it may also be just a tad early to book for the week of October 20, 2025. Check often, and don't lose hope if a date shows as not having reservations available. New dining opportunities may be released up to one day out, so keep an eye out and you might get lucky!
If you're not able to secure a reservation, you can still get an excellent spot for the show through the World of Color virtual queue. As long as you've entered California Adventure, you'll be able to join the virtual queue at noon on days when a performance is scheduled. If you are successful, you'll be able to watch from a preferred viewing area.

I suggest checking out other available dining events, guided tours, and Character dining opportunities in case reservations for the dessert party don't work out. Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner at Storytellers Cafe seems like a fantastic alternative (or addition) to me!

Jennifer, I hope you have a fantastic Halloween Time visit at the Disneyland Resort. If you think of any other questions as you continue planning your trip, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!
