If a family waits in line for a ride and a child gets scared at the last minute, how does that work so the original parent can still ride? How does the child get to the first parent when some rides start and end at different points?

    Hello fellow Texan, Jackie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so glad you stopped by with your question. Planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort is so much fun and I'm happy to be able to help.

As a mother of a little boy who was terrified of almost every ride other than Dumbo the Flying Elephant, I completely understand your worry. Something that helped my little guy get more comfortable with trying other rides was watching videos of the attractions before going on them. You can find a plethora of videos of attractions at Walt Disney World Resort on the Internet.

If you're worried about your child getting scared at the last minute, I would first speak with the Cast Member at the attraction before going in. Explain to them that you'd like to see if your child would be okay with going on the ride. Perhaps the Cast Member can give you and your child a couple of options about which exit to take and whatnot. One parent can leave with the child and the other can ride. This is where the Rider Switch Service would really be helpful for your family.

The wonderful service at the Walt Disney World Resort called Rider Switch Service is a feature that allows Guests to take turns waiting with children who cannot or do not want to ride. How it works: Your entire party will need to go to the Cast Member greeting Guests at the queue and let them know you'd like to participate in Rider Switch Service. The first party will go in to ride, and then the second party of up to three Guests utilizing the Rider Switch Service will be eligible to ride. That way, your child will never be alone and both parents will get to ride the attraction.

I also encourage you to create your My Disney Experience account if you haven't already. You'll be set to make your FastPass+ selections and advance dining reservations when you're eligible!

Jackie, I hope you and your family have the most magical vacation at The Most Magical Place on Earth!
