Our family will be visiting WDW for the first time this summer. What are some suggestions for things to do with a 7 and 9 year old the first night? We don't arrive until after 6 pm, and don't want to go into the parks until the next day.

    Hi Theresa,

It sounds as if your trip to Walt Disney World is quickly approaching! I'm sure your family is simply bursting with excitement.

I have two kids about the same ages as yours and last summer when we wanted to have a low key evening, we actually headed down to the pool of our resort for the Movies Under the Stars. Since I am not exactly sure where you are staying, this may or may not be offered at your resort, but it is offered at most of them. This is complimentary for all guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and a fun way to incorporate some magic in the form of a classic Disney movie right under the stars. Just head down to the designated area and pull up a beach or pool chair. For more information on the location, times, and movie titles playing, be sure to ask at the front desk upon check-in. Also, keep in mind that this is offered weather permitting.

Another fun option might be to head down to Downtown Disney and take a walk around, go bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes, or even enjoy an ice cream sundae at Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop

I hope this offered some fun and interesting options to spend your first magical evening before heading to the parks and all they have to offer the next day. Your vacation will be here before you can say, "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" Have fun.
