My family and I will be visiting WDW in April (so excited!!) My kids have their own spending money to take with them but I really didn't want them carrying cash. I was thinking about getting a Disney Gift card for them, would this be my best option?

    Hi Carrie,

Your trip to Walt Disney World is so soon, you must be getting very excited!

I love the idea of purchasing a Disney Gift Card for each of your children to use while at Walt Disney World. I have done this for my daughter in the past. I also take Disney Gift Cards for myself when I go to Walt Disney World, so I always make sure that I buy my daughter one with a different design than mine. I suggest that you purchase different designs for each child so there is no confusion! We get a receipt each time we make a purchase, so that my daughter can always see how much money she has left on her Disney Gift Card. I like to head to my local Disney Store to purchase these before I even leave home for my trip, but of course, you can also purchase them at Walt Disney World.

Another possibility if you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort is to activate the charging privileges on your children's MagicBands. This would link back to the credit card that you have associated with your My Disney Experience account. This way, you would not have to be concerned about them losing a gift card - the MagicBand will be right on their wrist!

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Carrie. Have a great time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions!
