Hi again, friend! Jessica, welcome back to planDisney! I'm so excited to see you here, asking another oh-so-fun Disney vacation planning question! As a fellow Louisiana girl, you know that I am thrilled to
dig a little deeper into this topic!
Well, it's almost time! Time for king cakes, marching bands and setting up ladders on the neutral ground. But for you and your family, it means it's almost time for your vacation to Walt Disney World Resort! I know that you must be getting SO excited, because you're
almost there!
My family and I love taking advantage of the Mardi Gras holiday to head over to The Most Magical Place on Earth, bringing some of the Greatest Free Show on Earth with us! We make sure to pack a king cake, our matching purple, green and gold t-shirts and our favorite "fancy" beads to wear. Once you and your family have donned your Mardi Gras best, don't miss
Mickey's Celebration Cavalcade in Magic Kingdom Park. No Fat Tuesday or
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration would be complete without a parade, and the route runs from Frontierland, through Liberty Square and then down Main Street, U.S.A. Be sure to check the schedule for the parade times! While beads and trinkets won't be thrown, I always make myself right at home waving to and cheering for my favorite pals as they pass on their floats. While in Magic Kingdom Park, of course Princess Tiana will want to wish you and your family a "Happy Mardi Gras," so be sure to
see Princess Tiana and a Visiting Princess at Princess Fairytale Hall. The last time my family visited Walt Disney World Resort for Mardi Gras,
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter held an amazing Mardi Gras celebration at the Resort hotel. They had an adorable parade, complete with small floats, characters, music and beads in the morning, followed by an evening party with a DJ, activities and snacks. Since some Resort activities and special events have been suspended recently, I checked with a Cast Member at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter to ask if this celebration will be taking place this year. He stated that as far as he knows, no decision has been made regarding the matter yet, but he did advise me to call the Resort hotel at (407) 934-5000 in the beginning of February for any updates. My fingers are crossed for you that this Mardi Gras bash will return just in time for your vacation. However, party or no party, it is absolutely worth a trip to Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter just for their famous Mickey beignets at
Scat Cat's Club. Everything is yummier when it's Mickey-shaped!
Jessica, I am wishing you and your family the most magical vacation and Mardi Gras celebration! Please stop by any time with any questions! Your planning is sure to make your family vacation
blue skies and sunshine ... Guaranteed!
I hope to see ya real soon!
