My family and I will be visiting this September and I was wondering if they are still doing the Kiss Goodnight at Magic Kingdom after park close?

    Hi Angela!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question!

The "Kiss Goodnight" at Magic Kingdom Park is a sweet, enchanting experience that many guests overlook, but it’s well worth staying a little longer to witness this magical moment! I'm happy to let you know you should be able to catch this sweet show on your September visit.

About 30 minutes after the park closes, Cinderella Castle starts to sparkle with a beautiful light display. “When You Wish Upon a Star” begins to play, and the castle glows with color. As the lights twinkle, a narrator’s voice thanks the guests for spending their day at Magic Kingdom and wishes them a safe journey home. The entire presentation lasts just a few minutes, but it’s a beautiful way to wrap up a day of Disney magic!

This special moment isn’t on a strict schedule, so you’ll need to be patient and keep an eye on the castle as the park empties. The unpredictability makes it feel like a hidden treasure only for those who linger a little longer in the park. It’s a sweet moment, often missed by many guests, which makes it feel like a secret shared among those who know about it.

So, next time you’re at Magic Kingdom Park, consider staying a bit past closing time to experience the "Kiss Goodnight." Take your time, maybe do some shopping, and hang back as the crowds make a mass exodus to the exit. My favorite thing to do is to stop by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor right after the Happily Ever After fireworks and grab a treat as guests exit the park. I find a spot with a nice view of Cinderella Castle, enjoy my ice cream, and take a moment to take in the sights and sounds.

As the narrator says during the Kiss Goodnight, “The Magic Kingdom is a place for the young and the young at heart. A special place where when you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true." This lovely send-off reminds us to keep wishing, keep dreaming, and always makes me thankful for the “young at heart” feeling I get on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. If you’re lucky enough to catch the show, it’s a heartwarming end to your Disney day.

I hope you make magical memories to last a lifetime during your September visit!
