Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, Alyssa!
Welcome back to planDisney! Since life is sweet here, you've got to be here, naturally. I love this question because, as a mom to a pouncing toddler Simba myself, I've gotten to utilize Rider Switch with my husband. I got to explore Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and enjoy my favorite treat- the Cold Brew Black Caf at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo while my favorite Jedi Master (aka my hubby, if you haven't guessed) stood in line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. By the time I was finished with my beverage, he'd conquered the ride, so I hopped on as smoothly as Grogu in his floating pod!
So here's how Rider Switch works, Alyssa:
- When you arrive at any attraction, find the greeter Cast Member and let them know you're interested in Rider Switch. They'll split your group into two: "Party 1" hops on the ride first, while "Party 2"—(which can be up to 2 people in your group) hangs back and waits.
- A Cast Member will then scan the tickets for Party 2, so make sure you all have the Disneyland Mobile App downloaded.
- Once Party 1 returns, Party 2 can head back to the attraction entrance as directed by the Cast Member to get their tickets scanned again for Rider Switch. Then, Party 2 can skip the regular queue and hop on the ride hassle-free, while Party 1 hangs out with the non-riders (it's only fair!).
My pals, Panelists Elisabeth S and Kaitlin P put together a fun video at Walt Disney World demonstrating the whole process. I've linked it for you below! And Alyssa, Rider Switch is up for grabs at all attractions in Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. So enjoy that magic like Yoda enjoys The Force!
I hope this helps you understand how to use this neat trick, Alyssa. If you have more questions or want more of my top tips for planning your next visit to the Disneyland Resort, I'm in the mood to help ya, dude!
You ain't never had a (planDisney) friend like me,
Danielle
