My family will be visiting the MK for two days in June and planning to stay at the Wilderness Lodge. What time should I get to the MK for the "rope drop" and should we all stand in the security line for bag check or split up to get on a ride?

    Beth:

Our family loves "rope drop" at Magic Kingdom as the Characters welcome guests via the train above the turnstiles into the park with a song and dance!

You should arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes before the park opens for rope drop.  But remember, the boats from Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom are not "scheduled" to depart usually until 30 minutes before the park opens.  Still, get to the pier an hour before the park opens in hopes that the boats will come a little early.  You may not be able to be at the front of the line (as the resorts that use buses to Magic Kingdom leave earlier than the boats), but that's what I love about Magic Kingdom rope drop!  The train station is visible to all in the outer que area of the park--even as far back as the pier!

As for the bag check, there's no real savings of time to split up.  Have those who don't have bags go through the "no-bag" entrance.  There are so many lines, the "no baggers" shouldn't have to wait long!  If you get separated somehow, just meet by the Mickey head on the grass (a great picture op!) and then make your way to your favorite attraction!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
