Hi Kacy!
Thanks for sending your question to the planDisney Panel! It's great to hear that you're planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort for the last week of February. As someone who will be participating in the upcoming
Princess Half Marathon, I can provide some firsthand insight into your concern about the crowds due to the event.
The Princess Half Marathon, along with the other races during that weekend, typically occur in the early morning hours before the parks open. The races usually wind through multiple parks and areas of the resort, but the exact course can vary from year to year and this year's courses have not been released yet. Typically, runners pass through iconic spots like Magic Kingdom and Epcot, but the races are organized in a way that minimizes disruption to normal park operations.
To avoid the heaviest crowds, I would recommend visiting the parks later in the day, after the races have concluded. The afternoons and evenings are less likely to be affected by the marathon crowds. Also, keep an eye on the
race schedule and plan your park visits accordingly. For instance, if the marathon route goes through a specific park on a particular morning, you might choose to visit a different park that day.
Another tip is to utilize the
My Disney Experience app to monitor wait times and navigate the parks more efficiently during your visit. This tool is incredibly helpful for finding less crowded attractions and planning your day on the go.
If you have more questions about your trip, the Princess Half Marathon, or anything else Disney-related, feel free to
