Hi - Family visiting Feb 12 - 16. We would like to see the ocean this trip. (Prefer the gulf because of the shells) Any suggestions on cities, accommodations? We also considered continuing our disney resort experience (without park fix) and driving.

    Hi Katherine,

My dad lives on the gulf coast in the Clearwater Beach area. The sand on the beaches is powder white, and the water is a beautiful shade of clear blue. We've seen dolphins swimming off the shore there before. The Tampa Bay / Clearwater area is less than an hour and a half from Orlando and you likely to find a lot of great accommodations online.

Even without going into the Disney Parks, there is still so much to see and do. You can spend a lot of time enjoying the various shops in Downtown Disney. In addition, the Deluxe resorts are all highly themed and you may take some time to explore them. I especially love the Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Crescent Lake area around the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

    Wishing you a wonderful vacation,

    Kaylene
