Hi! My family is visiting Disneyland/DCA in late May 2022. It appears that Extra Magic Hours are available for those staying on property. I'm trying to verify that Extra Magic Hours are back because I read they had been suspended. Thanks!

    Hi Tim!

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending this great Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR. I'm happy to be your planEAR today!

This is a great question, Tim. As part of the pandemic health and safety procedures, a lot of included perks and magical extras that long-time Disneyland fans knew and loved have remained paused long after the theme parks reopening. Some of those beloved park staples, like parades, fireworks and nighttime spectaculars are just now announcing their returns, like my personal favorite the Main Street Electrical Parade. There are, however, many details that even we as panelists haven't hEARd about yet, which includes the early morning Extra Magic Hour benefit to guests of a Disneyland Resort Hotel or Good Neighbor Hotel. At this current time, there is nothing officially listed on the official Disneyland Theme Park Events Calendar. Granted it only extends to mid-April, this calendar is going to be your best bet of place to check.

I personally haven't seen too much in the ol' rumor mills about their return, but usually as soon as the unofficial bloggers and influencers start buzzing, Mickey himself will announce the magical details through Disney's official social media channels as well as the Disney Parks Blog, which is the best source of information for the newest Disney Parks news. I'll also say that Walt Disney World Resort also has Extra Magic Hours that recently returned, so if we're following their lead, Land hopefully shouldn't be too far behind World, if that makes sense.

I will say, that in my experience, you can get just as much, if not more, done in the last few hours of Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park's operating hours than you can in that first bonus morning hour. It's like the parks clEAR out after fireworks. I used to feel that way only about weekday visits, but I was in the parks two weeks ago and even for a Friday and Saturday night, wait times for even some E-ticket attractions were only 20 minutes. And don't discount just how much you can get done with the brand new Genie+ add-on service and Individual Lightning Lane purchases. It truly was just like using the old MaxPass system.

I'm so sorry this answer didn't provide a confirmation or really clEAR your question up that much, Tim. Be sure to follow the official planDisney Instagram account as we're also a resource who shares the newest Disney news as soon as we can, but also for all kinds of tips and tricks.
