My family and I are visiting Disneyland (from Australia) for the first time. We are trying to reduce our waste so I was wondering if we are allowed to bring bamboo cutlery sets into the park. And if not the knife, a spork type option. Thanks

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Fay!

You’re as welcome as can be, to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am very happy to be able to help with your Disneyland Resort vacation planning.

Thank you so much for your diligence in being a great caretaker for this beautiful world of ours by reducing waste. That is such an admirable thing to do! The Disneyland Resort park rules don’t happen to prohibit bamboo utensils. However, they do specifically prohibit “objects or toys that appear to be firearms or weapons.” Since it is up to security Cast Members to enforce those safety rules as evenly as possible, I believe it would be best to leave at least the bamboo knife back at your hotel room. I’d hate for you have your nice cutlery confiscated or for you to have to turn back to your hotel room to have it stored safely there. But the spoons, forks, and sporks should be fine to take with you into the theme parks and into Downtown Disney District.

I suspect for most of your dining needs, your remaining utensils will be adequate. If you happen to be planning to travel to another planet, far, far away during your visit to the Disneyland Resort, you may be interested in applying your conservation principles there as well. During dinner time at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, I highly recommend the Braised Shaak Roast. My dear friend Julie also recommends the plant-based Ithorian Garden Loaf. It is amazingly delicious. And it is also perfectly tender; no knife is required! Another of my recent favorites is The All-American Burger from Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes. It was so juicy and delicious. And it made a perfect companion to a CrazyShake!

    Bon appétit, Fay!
