Bonjour Whitney,
I completely understand where your father is coming from. I mean, who doesn’t want to eat dessert as a meal on vacation? Although it’s too bad that
Beaches and Cream Soda Shop will be closed for refurbishment during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort, there are plenty of other options for your father to get his ice cream fix during your visit.
If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines decadent desserts and “real” food, I highly recommend
Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom Park. There, you can enjoy some great meals (their meatloaf and the fried green tomato sandwich are my personal faves) AND you can finish off your meal with sweet treats made at Main Street Ice Cream Parlor.
If you’re just looking for ice cream,
Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s BoardWalk is absolutely delicious, as are the treats at
L’Artisans des Glaces in France at Epcot. Although both are counter service locations, you can certainly combine those treats with other food from neighbouring locations (such as
Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie).
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. It’s always a pleasure to help visitors who are from “La Belle Province”, too!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
