Hi Jenae!
You and your family will have such a magical time visiting Walt Disney World this July! However, I'm even more excited about your thoughts of embarking on a Disney Cruise in 2018! Your husband is right on track by already thinking about sailing the high seas with Captain Mickey. Guests receive the best rates and stateroom options the earlier they book!
Your boys will be at such fun ages to enjoy all that a Disney Cruise has to offer! Oh my goodness, I'm not sure they'll want the cruise to ever end! In my opinion, sailing on an itinerary that stops at Disney's private island,
Castaway Cay, is a must-do for your first cruise! For my family, Castaway Cay is the definition of paradise. Itineraries that sail to the Bahamas and the Caribbean typically make a stop there. These same itineraries usually have a
Pirate Night, too! During Pirate Night, you and your buccaneers enjoy delicious pirate-themed food, deck parties and fireworks at sea!
Regarding the length of your first cruise, I suggest choosing a 4-night itinerary or longer. There are so many fun activities to do onboard that you won't want to miss! You and your family will want as much time to "sea" and do everything while also allowing for some relaxation time, too! My family enjoys itineraries that include at least one day at sea.
It was so fun answering your question, Jenae! Disney Cruise Line has not released the itineraries for summer 2018, yet. Keep an eye on the
Disney Cruise Line website and the
Disney Parks Blog for the announcement of the new itineraries!
