Our family will be visiting Disney World in August, 2009. My husband will begin dialysis in January, 2009. With all the diseases he has; i.e., diabetes, Croyn's, anemia, and stage 4 kidney failure, where can we rent wheelchairs, just in case he can't walk?

    Hi Katherine,

I am so glad you are going to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Wheelchairs and ECVs can be rented at any of the four major theme parks for $10 or $35 respectively a day as of fall 2008. These are located at the front of each park where the stroller rentals are, and you can transfer the daily rental between parks if you want to park hop.

Another helpful tip would be for you to get a Guest Assistance Card or Pass. This can be obtained at any guest relations office at the entrance to the four major parks. This pass which is good for your length of stay will allow you to bypass the attraction lines.

Disney also has a Guest with Disabilities Guide which can provide you with additional information.

Castmembers are extremely helpful so remember to just ask, and you usually will receive extra magic if you need it.

    Have a great trip!
