I am is family of 7 who will be visiting Disney in August. I have 2 children with disabilities and hoping you could guide me in the right direction.

Hello, Keri, and welcome to planDisney!

I’m so happy to meet you and even more excited to hear you have an upcoming family vacation. It is going to be such a magical visit and the perfect way to bring the family together to create new core memories!

Walt Disney World does an incredible job of helping families come together and enjoy the magic. They offer dietary accommodations and provide different recommendations and accommodations to make Walt Disney World accessible for all Guests. I recommend starting here to see all the different ways Disney can help provide a great experience for your family. There are a few different categories you can browse through depending on your family's needs. So it's the perfect starting point.

I’m a mom to a very special boy who has taught us so much over the years, and Walt Disney World is his favorite place to visit. It is Disney, football, and fishing for him, nothing else. When we visit as a family, we usually apply for Disability Access Service so that he can enjoy the theme parks in a way that works for him. We also plan for plenty of breaks and heavily rely on his noise-cancelling headphones. Those breaks and quiet moments help him take a moment to relax and enjoy where he is. He also has a dairy allergy, and Walt Disney World does an incredible job with all dining accommodations and needs. So a dairy-free ice cream is never too far away, which is his go-to treat! And as a mom, it’s so fulfilling to see both of my little ones enjoy Walt Disney World through the same attractions and treats.

Keri, I hope this helps give you a starting point so that you can get an idea of the available options your family has when visiting. I’m sure this will get the conversation started, so as more questions arise, please reach back out! We will all be more than happy to help make the most of your visit.

    Magical Memories,

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
