My family will visit WDW this October. We have the meal plan, but I am a bit confused about character dining. Does a character dining equal one table service in some places 2? Who do you call for reservations? What may an 8 y.o. boy be interested in?

All character dining can be redeemed for one table service per person, except for Cinderella's Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom which requires two table service meals per person.

For Advance Dining Reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE as soon as possible.

My son is 8 (and a half - he'd want me to say that!) and his fave restaurants (note not all of them are character meals) right now are:

    50s Prime Time
    Tusker House - character breakfast
    Chef Mickey's - character dinner
    San Angel Inn
    Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
    Whispering Canyon Cafe

I don't know if he'd admit it but my 8 year old son also enjoys Cinderella's Royal Table in the Magic Kingdom. I think he enjoys the sword souvenir, the princesses asking him how many dragons he's slayed and the wishing ceremony.
