My family and I are vegetarian, so we usually love dining at Sanaa because there are so many menu options available for us. We’re hoping to eat Thanksgiving dinner there on our upcoming trip, but are concerned about whether the specialty menu will be OK…

    Hiya Rachel,

Welcome to planDisney! Sanaa is one of my favorite places to dine as well. The bread service and the Mango Lassi are always my go-tos, and I love introducing my toddler to unexpected yet delicious flavors.

As you pointed out, on Thanksgiving Day, Sanaa will offer select items from the breakfast menu (if dining before 11:00 AM EST) and the dinner menu (if dining after 11:30 AM EST), accompanied by special holiday dishes starting at 11:30 AM. I took a look at the proposed menu, and although it hasn't been announced which select items from the existing menu will be offered, the Cast Member I spoke to said that more than likely, there will be some vegetarian-friendly options included from the traditional dinner menu. I did a little digging, and this has included in the past a butternut squash soup and vegetable curries (though I can't confirm that will be the case this year).  When I took a look at the special holiday selection, there do appear to be some items that will fit our family's needs! You will need to confirm with a Cast Member, but I believe the sweet potato and coconut mash, braised collard tarka, mielie-chaptai stuffing, cranberry-tamarind chutney, and seasonal salad would be great vegetarian-friendly dishes (also don't forget to get Giraffe Tower Mousse).

I hope this was helpful, Rachel! If you're looking for more options for a vegetarian-friendly Thanksgiving, I'd also like to share a couple of other options with you. Whispering Canyon Café is offering a plant-based skillet that features herb-brushed Trick'n Chick'n and sauteed green beans. I've always loved their food (what Texan doesn't love BBQ), and the Wilderness Lodge is such a beautiful resort. If you are heading into the theme parks that day, then definitely check out Liberty Tree Tavern. They offer a plant-based Thanksgiving dinner that I've heard great things about. No matter where you choose to dine, Rachel, I am confident that you will find options that make your celebration magical, both for you and your family. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.

    Happy Planning,
