Hi Hope! Thank you for reaching out to planDisney.
You are checking off two things on my bucket list and I'm so excited for you! While I've visited
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort before, I have never stayed there. It's such a great resort full of
delicious food,
unique recreation activities, and my absolute favorite dinner show:
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue! I highly recommend you check out all of these experiences.
The second thing on my bucket list that you're checking off is renting a pontoon boat! I've done a bunch of research on it, but haven't yet experienced it. It looks like such a fun and special activity. Thanks for letting me share what I've found out about this experience!
While Fort Wilderness itself does not offer pontoon boat rentals, quite a few others do. The great news is that you are usually allowed to rent one of these boats even if you are not staying at these resorts and you usually don't need a reservation. Please keep in mind that this could change, especially during peak times of the year.
You can rent pontoon boats that will accommodate up to ten guests (maximum of 1,900 pounds) at the following resorts:
Please note that drivers of the boat must be at least 18 years of age and will need to present a valid form of identification. You can find out more information on the
Motorized Boat Rentals page of the Walt Disney World Resort website.
If you want a
really unique experience (and not have to worry about driving yourself around), the Walt Disney World Resort also offers fireworks cruises. These are chartered boats that include a captain, snacks, and soft drinks. Not only that, you get the perfect view of either the Magic Kingdom or Harmonious nighttime spectaculars. There
may even be cruises that depart right at the Fort Wilderness Marina. You can find out more and call to reserve this experience on the
Specialty Cruises page of the website.
No matter which option you choose, you and your travel party are bound to have the experience of a lifetime!
Happy cruising,
Matt
