Hello! My family (11 of us!) is coming to Disneyland in mid-June 2018. My aunt is in a wheelchair and my son (age 15) has autism. Is there anything you recommend for these disabilities? Thank you, Rebecca

    Hi, Rebecca!

It sounds like you’ve got quite a grand gathering planned! I think you’ll be relieved to know that there are many services and strategies available at the Disneyland Resort to help Guests with disabilities have a magical experience with their families.

The Disability Access Service (DAS) system accommodates Guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue due to a disability (including autism and cognitive disabilities) by allowing them to receive a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. If this could benefit your family, visit City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park to speak to a Cast Member about your specific needs. A Guest like your aunt, whose disability is based on the need to use a wheelchair or scooter, does not need DAS. She can either wait in the standard queue if possible or receive a return time. For some attractions, she and her group can go directly to an alternate entrance.

Along with DAS, you are also welcome to use Disney FASTPASS to further maximize your time in the parks. To obtain a FASTPASS, visit the distribution area for each attraction offering this service. Insert your valid admission ticket into the FASTPASS machine to obtain a return time. For attractions, the return time will be a one-hour window, but for shows, you will receive a return time for a specific performance.

If your son becomes over-stimulated or just needs some down time while exploring Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, several quieter locations are available throughout the resort where he can take some time to regroup. To find the break area nearest you, simply ask a Cast Member. I hope this information helps you plan, Rebecca. Please send more questions as your pixie-dusted planning continues!

    Wishing you magic,
