Hi. Family of 3 in the UK, we're looking forward to our 1st brunch at Palo Steakhouse onboard the Wish in July. The dress code says lifestyle shoes, which I'm unfamiliar with this. Do I need to get my 18yo out of her trainers?

Ahoy, Mark! Thanks for bringing your question over to planDisney about your upcoming sailing aboard the Disney Wish.

Brunch is my absolute favorite adult-exclusive dining experience when sailing with Disney Cruise Line because you still get to indulge in the exquisite Italian cuisine offered at Palo Steakhouse without having to miss any of the rotational dining experiences found onboard. As an adult-exclusive restaurant, you are correct that there is a recommended dress code and Disney Cruise Line’s policy states:

Adult-exclusive restaurants aboard Disney Cruise Line ships are elegant dining experiences. Guests are requested to dress in a manner consistent with the restaurant’s sophistication. Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. For brunch at Palo Steakhouse, dress shorts are acceptable. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted.

I’ll be honest and tell you that I also had no idea what “lifestyle shoes” means, but I am happy to report that you should not need to pry your daughter’s trainers off her feet. My research taught me that lifestyle shoes are basically everyday comfort and casual footwear that are suitable for regular activities and not necessarily designed for athletic performance. Assuming that the trainers in question do not smell, have holes in them, or appear to be completely falling apart, then they should not cause any problem as long as the rest of your daughter’s outfit meets the dress code specifications.

I hope you have the best time aboard the Disney Wish with your family this summer. When you go to brunch, my top three recommendations are to try the parmesan-crusted chicken breast, margherita flatbread, and Italian zabaglione for dessert. If you have any other questions before you set sail, then you are always welcome back here at planDisney. Happy sailing!
