My family (two adults and three children 5,2 and almost 1) will be going to disney in July. We have only ever gone in Nov with one child (my parents are joining us) we were wondering if it would be worth staying at something other then the pop century.

    Michelle:

Even from a budget mom like me, the answer is 'yes.'

Although we took the grandparents when our kids were young and stayed in adjoining rooms at another value resort, on our second trip with the grandparents we stayed in one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness and there was a big difference between the trips.

First, the cabins gave us ample gathering space for us to visit that the smaller value rooms did not.  We were able to cook a few meals together and let the children have plenty of space to stretch their legs.

Secondly, whether you stay in a cabin or one of the DVC villas, the resorts on which they are located are a step-above in amenities with larger rooms, pools, theming, dining, down to the shampoo in the rooms and granite countertops!   If you are on a budget, we have found we can offset a large part of the room upgrade by making a few meals in the full kitchens on the properties.

Lastly, the convenience of staying in the cabins or most of the villas cannot be priced.  Whether you're within walking distance of Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios from the Boardwalk Villas or Beach Club Villas to a monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom and Epcot at the Bay Lake Towers to a boat ride from Magic Kingdom at the cabins, with small children, this convenience can be their edge.

I highly recommend you exploring your options under Deluxe Villas (click here) or campgrounds here before making your final decision!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
