My family & I are trying to decide on which resort to stay at. The restaurants we want to eat at are on the monorail line. Can we walk to the TTC from any of the resorts or do we have to stay at one with monorail service? (We are trying to save money)

The only Disney resort within convenient walking distance of the Transportation and Ticket Center is Disney's Polynesian.  Guests eligible to stay at Shades of Green (an Armed Forces Recreation Center) also enjoy the convenience of being within walking distance of the Transportation and Ticket Center.  Other resorts, however, are really not within convenient walking proximity.  That said, there is another option if you are looking to stay within a budget.  Both Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground offer transportation by boat to Disney's Contemporary (which happens to be a monorail resort).  If you are looking to enjoy the convenience of the monorail, perhaps a stay at one of these other resorts offers an acceptable compromise?  Your family could easily travel by ferry to Disney's Contemporary and catch the monorail from there.  Hope that helps!
