There is something so special about a multi-generational family cruise! When my kids were little, my parents often cruised with us, and we still chat about all the fun we had and all the great memories we made. I am glad you stopped by planDisney so you can get some ideas on how to plan your magical sailing with Captains Mickey and Minnie!
I suggest a 4-night cruise out of Port Canaveral or Fort Lauderdale. These are easy ports to get to, and there are plenty of dates to choose from. Most of these 4-night cruises will sail to at least one of Disney's magical private islands:
Disney Castaway Cay or
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Other stops may include Mexico or the Bahamas depending on your chosen date/itinerary.
With your party of 9, your best option will be 3 staterooms. You will have the option to choose your exact rooms which is great if you want rooms near or next to each other. Interior Rooms are usually the most budget-friendly, but an Oceanview or Balcony Room are nice upgrades. You will be able to browse pricing to see what will work best.
Once onboard, you will find plenty of activities for your kids at the
Oceaneer Club, exclusively for kids ages 3-10. While the kids are busy, the adults can head to one of the
adults only areas like the Quiet Cove pool or a delicious brunch at Palo.
So where to start? I would begin by
looking at sailing dates, and once you find a date that works for everyone, you can book your cruise online with a deposit. As you get closer, you will make final
payments and will be able to book any
Port Adventures or onboard extras such as relaxing treatments at the
Senses Spa & Salon. You will even be able to book pre- and post-cruise
ground transportation.
If you prefer, you may
call Disney Cruise Line directly and they will be able to book your cruise for you. They will make sure your reservations are linked so you will be seated together for dinner and be able to book any Port Adventures together.
I know it sounds like a lot, but cruising is such a great option with a group as Mickey and the Crew will take care of all the details. Even your dining time will be arranged so all you have to do is show up and enjoy your family dinner.
