I am going to take a family trip to Disney World. We will have 5 adults and 5 children between the ages of 9 and 12. We would like to go in Sept because there are 3 birthdays in that month. Where is a good option to stay. The kids vote is animal kingdom

    Hi Shari,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Family trips are fabulous at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort is absolutely stunning. I am certain that your family would have a magical time there. I would consider travel time to the parks, however. There are other resorts closer to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. To accommodate your family, I would recommend one of the Deluxe Villa Resorts. I love the resorts with access to the Monorail. If you have not done so already, take a look at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. We have also stayed at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa in a two-bedroom villa that was lovely.

When traveling with family, my resort selection is often dependent on how close the resort is to the parks, especially if we are traveling at busy times of the year with a larger group. From the Contemporary Resort, we have actually walked to Magic Kingdom in less than 10 minutes. With monorail access, you can get to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot. All three resorts on the monorail line also have Water Taxi service to Magic Kingdom. There are buses to take guests from those resorts to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

It takes time to move a group of 10 people, so my advice is to consider resort transportation options carefully when making your choice. Even if you plan to drive, you may not want to drive to the parks every day.

I do have one last tip. Remember to make dining reservations 180 days in advance!

    Happy Planning!
